Covid 19 - Phase 1 : POV no longer a requirement
While you're having your morning coffee feel free to change your lock screen image on your phone back to pictures of your kids and pets because the POV is no longer required at the door! Thank you again for being patient as we have worked through, and continue to work through the unknowns of the pandemic's path guided by our health officials and government leaders along with Hockey NS.
The pandemic has also brought another level of change in our structure as a hockey association. Throughout the past couple years we, as an association, along with many others were forced to adapt and find new ways of operating to ensure everyone's Safety while trying to keep our players on the ice. Some of the larger pieces of the 10,000+ piece puzzle were an amazing crew of "Team Safety Reps" who continue to enforce the rules and regulations. Leading the charge of this amazing team of volunteers was a determined hockey mom who wasn't going to stand by and watch things fall apart on her watch. We all have busy lives but some still insist that there is more room on their plates for just a little bit extra. Her passion for the game and love for the kids was all she needed to throw herself in front of the many questions, moving variables and ever changing restrictions these past two years have brought us. Although she may not have felt 100% confident raising her hand...she did it. She raised her hand and also raised her bar. She pushed herself to learn new things and take on challenges to overcome whatever obstacle the Coronavirus was going to throw at her. This fierce hockey mom and community volunteer has faced many challenges and adversities over these past months and as we hit this milestone of "Phase 1" I think she should be able to raise her head and be proud of all that she has accomplished along the way. If you see our "1st, past" Safety Coordinator in the rink please let Danielle Naas-MacDonald know she is appreciated and when we reach the appropriate phase, with her permission, give her a great big hug! Thank you for your time and commitment to the role of Safety Coordinator and enjoy your break!
On behalf of our executive and board members we would like to thank Gordie Lemoine for accepting the appointed position in the interim. Gord is well positioned to take on this responsibility. His email address will be up and running soon and he will try and answer any of the questions that are pending in his newly appointed inbox.
