Seeking Expression of Interest in multiple positions within Sackville Minor Hockey

SMHA is putting a call out for interest in the following positions:
Vice President Administration
The Vice President Administration will support the overall administrative operations of the Association and assume the duties of the President as delegated in the event of his/her absence for any reason. The Vice President Administration shall be familiar with and enforce the bylaws and policies of the Association, be responsible for the planning and coordinating of the Annual General Meeting and be responsible for all fundraising including the acquisition and maintenance of lotto licenses. The Vice President Administration shall assist the Registrar in all registration matters including requests for financial assistance and collection of delinquent accounts. They will perform such other duties as delegated by the President.
 
Vice President U9
The Vice President U9 is responsible for ensuring the U9 program meet the identified program objectives and effectively represent the interests of players, parents and instructors at the Executive level. They will provide ongoing support and guidance to the U9 Divisional Coordinator.
 
Director of Tournaments
The Director of Tournaments will be responsible for organizing and the overall operation and supervision of all tournaments hosted by the Association. The Director of Tournaments will form a committee to help with the support of tournament operations both before and during tournaments.
 
Ombudsman
The Ombudsman shall be an independent and objective party whose primary role shall be to receive disciplinary complaints from members of the association pertaining to other members, coaches, players, volunteers or members of the Board of Directors. The Ombudsman will be responsible for chairing the Disciplinary Committee, coordinating discipline meetings, issue suspensions and liaising with the President of SMH on discipline matters.

 

Submission Deadline: 11:59pm, Friday, February 14, 2025.
Please email Natalie Lafleche at Secretary@FlyersHockey.ca to express your interest in any of the above positions. Please include a short message confirming that you meet the requirements, and why you think you would be suitable for the role.
Any member standing for an Executive position must have at least two (2) years of experience as a volunteer in good standing with SMHA;. Please see our updated bylaws (Article VII- 42 M-V ) for more information.
Each member of the Board of Directors shall be appointed by the Executive Officers for a term of one (1) year, must be a member in good standing of the Association and must have a minimum of one year hockey volunteer experience with SMHA or another minor hockey association.

We encourage everyone to use caution and discretion if you choose to travel to any arenas that remain open. Please stay safe if you decide to head out to a rink this evening.

The Stadium is closing at 3:00pm today January 29, 2025.  

ECV and Sackville Arena are currently staying open. 

If there are any other closures they will be shared on our Sackville Minor Facebook page and another email will go out to the association.

We are in the top 4 arenas for Kraft Hockeyville, but we need your help to stay there!

Sackville Minor Hockey Association and the Sackville Arena(LDRA) needs your help to keep us in the running for the top 4 arenas in Kraft Hockeyville.
 
We are doing well, we are currently in the top 4, but we need to keep pushing as other arenas do their rally their stories will start pouring in!!
 
We have until March 2nd to add your stories about the arena, upload pictures, leave a note, and interact with the content on our Sackville Arena Kraft Hockeyville page.
 
Stories are extremely important in the judging to declare the top 4 arenas. Total accumulated points will bring awareness to the judging panel, however they will review and score us based on the content within those stories. They want to see our community spirit, passion for hockey, the importance of our arena and how the prize money will be used.

Kraft Hockeyville Rally Information: Schedule, Goalie Game, Mini Stick Tournament Sign ups

Kraft Hockeyville Goalie Game

Get ready for a unique and fun experience at the Goalie Game on Sunday, January 19th, 2025!
  • Date: Sunday, January 19th, 2025
  • Location: Sackville Arena
  • Time: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
  • Open to: U9, U11, U13, U15, and U18 Goalies
This exciting event is designed to unite goaltenders from across our association for a 5-on-5, goalies-only hockey game! Goalies will wear their full gear, including their own gloves and stick, and rotate positions throughout the game.

Kraft Hockeyville Mini Stick Tournament

Join us for a fun-filled Mini Stick Tournament on Sunday, January 19th, 2025!
  • Date: Sunday, January 19th, 2025
  • Location: Sackville Arena Mezzanine
  • Time: 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Teams: 6 players per team - To register you must have a full team of 6 players. 
  • Game Format: 3 vs 3, Two 5-minute periods
  • Divisions: U7, U9, U11, U13
U7 - 2:30- 3:30pm
U9 - 3:30-4:30pm
U11 - 4:30-5:30pm
U13 - 5:30-6:30pm
Max 8 Teams per divisions- Teams will receive an email confirming your acceptance into the tournament or an email if your division is full and closed to registration.
The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with Semis and a Final Championship Game. Every team is guaranteed at least 3 games!
Winners from each division will receive medals!
Player of the game prizes throughout!
Tournament schedule will be provided after team sign-ups.
