UPDATE: September 8, 2024 

SMHA has released the new 2024 SMHA Competitive Tryout Policy for review before the meeting this evening. The 2024 policy, along with previous year's archeive policies, can be found on our SMHA website under the "About SMHA" drop down tab, entitled "Constitution, By-Laws and Policies". 

Reminder of tonight's in-person information session: Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 7:00-8:00pm in the Mezz at the Sackville Arena.

UPDATE: September 7, 2024 

• SMHA is currently finalizing the tryout document and will post a link as soon as it is ready. The document will be available to review before the meeting on Sunday.
• We will be hosting a second in-person information session to review the tryout document on September 14, 2024, from 12:00-1:00pm at the Arena Mezz for those that cannot attend the first session.
• We are recording the sessions and will make them available on the SMHA website following the meetings. 

SMHA is pleased to present our revised 2024/2025 tryout process and procedures document at an in-person information session on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 7:00-8:00pm in the Mezz at the Sackville Arena.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in our tryout committee. They have been working hard over the summer months to finalize this in time for this season's tryouts! 

Tryout schedules will be posted next week following the meeting! We are looking forward to a great 2024/2025 season with our Flyers families!

SMHA has assigned Goalies for our Pre-Season player camps by division and group number.

Please see the below table for your goalie name as we would like to make sure that we do not have too many goalies showing up for the same sessions. 

Please check the Pre-Season group page on our SMHA website for your group's assigned ice schedule. 

Some changes have been made to the Pre-Season Groups.

We would like to remind everyone that new this year, SMHA is accepting registration for a U23 team! 

SMHA is also pleased to announce that for this year only, players who are registering for U23 that have previously expired 50/50 credits from U18 can reach out to have their credit brought back into the player's account!! This will allow the opportunity for returning players to use their old credits towards the cost of registration for this upcoming season!!

Seeking Pre-Season Dressing Room Volunteers 

As per Hockey Nova Scotia, we are mandated to follow the "Rule of Two" when monitoring dressing rooms during all sessions. 

Ideally, we would have former managers or coaches sign up as they already have all required certifications in order to monitor dressing rooms. 

Please see the 2024/25 Pre-Season Dressing Room Volunteers spreadsheet to sign up.

We ask that volunteers only sign up if they are able to make all sessions for the division and group they are volunteering to monitor.
