Stepping up for the Ducks
"I see an imposter among us" is what one U18 Ducks player said as he walked into the dressing room for a game last week, but shortly after he fist pumped Sackville's, Wyatt Beck knowing full well that without him being there they wouldn't get to play!
Beck was among a list of several goalies contacted about filling in for the Ducks, who were short due to Covid and would have had to forfeit the game otherwise. Although many goalies were either busy or tired from their SEDMHA tournament battles, Wyatt wasn't going to let this problem go unsolved.
Wyatt said "they were actually great in the dressing room" and although Wyatt wasn't able to get the "W" for the Ducks he helped them make a great game out of it losing only 5-4.
Stories like this hammer down the fact that this sport, although very competitive at times, has a long history of building character and leadership skills in its players and creating community leaders off the ice that help strengthen the integrity of association and community as a whole.
