Late Night Win In Dartmouth

Late Night Win In Dartmouth

The Boys in Orange took their talents to the RBC 4 Plex and did not disappoint!!

The first got under way with some sloppy play from the flyers that found them getting dominated and outplayed for a majority of the first, which is very untypical for this gritty team, but some luck from the hockey gods, some big saves from Purcell and the big second year, Walshy, burying home his 1st goal of the night to let the boys take a 1-0 lead after the 1st.

The Second period went just about the same, seeing the Flyers not able to find their groove allowing the Whalers to bury home two of their own, but it was Smitty on The Spot who buried home a rebound off the backboards after Lively missed the net on a beauty dish out front from Harv!! Good things happen in front of the net!!

2-2 at the intermission saw the boys re group in the locker room, strap on the big boy boots and come out flying in the 3rd, hitting everything that touched the puck!! The Walsh Express was moving on the tracks tonight, laying the body and scoring 2 goals in the 3rd to get his 1st bantam AA hat trick!! Slavuta, the man of many words, was fired up for his teammate hitting him with the classic “hat trick” on the bench!! Fan favourite Bobby Ryan didn’t let his linemate get all the glory, as late in the game he put things away with a grind it out goal out front of the net to solidify a dominate 3rd period and an excellent team effort 5-2 win!!

Big Shoutout to Sidaruk for sticking up for himself and his teammates and letting everyone know the Flyers aren’t to be messed with!

Big shoutout to the Zamboni driver, giving the boys an extra 5 minute break with the snow mishap!

Another hard fought win, propelling the boys into 1st place with momentum on their side, take their talents to a rematch with Bedford back in the home barn Sunday Night!!

Big W in Yarmouth

The boys took their size and talent down to Yarmouth for the season opener and handled business!!

Some offensive zone penalties put the flyers off to a bad start, despite dominating 5v5 that saw them off to a 2-1 deficit early in the first, but it was Johnny on the spot, Smitty, who potted his second of the 1st period to tie the game up, and the boys never looked back.

The Spiderman, Peter Parker Anderson capitalized on a dominant shift from the spark plug line that saw him bury back to back goals after the boys grinded it out in the corners.

Second period was as dominant as the first but the only goal came from The Big Harv, who buried home a beauty shot on a 2 on 1 after a nice dish from Lively that all started with a textbook breakout.

The boys took their 5-2 lead into the intermission, kept their cool and realized that the game was far from over and you can’t win a game after 2 periods.

The 3rd period was business only, as the boys kept their emotions in check while still keeping their foot on the gas peddle, finishing every check and dominating in the offensive zone.

Rookie forward Hubs took one for the boys at the end of the game, letting Spidey and Smitty go out 4 on 4 while they were both on hat trick watch (that’s a real teammate right there) and they made sure to reward it as Parker buried home is hat trick with a big smile in front of the net as per usual capping off a dominant game.

Thats just the start The Flyers needed to set a statement game for the league.

Friday night vs Bedford and then our home opener against South Shore Sunday night!!

Big Playoff W

Big Playoff W

The boys from Sackville rolled into the Arena tonight for an elimination game and refused to pack it in!!

El Capitain, Benjamin Lowther got the boys rolling with a goalscorers goal straight through the five hole making no mistake in tight!! After a fast paced hard hitting first period the score remained 1-0.

A quick reset got the boys back on track and it was Keats who capitalized on a partial break ripping one far side to extend the lead to two!

The Sombrero wearing rookie, Glover, caught a Chebucto player cutting across the ice with his head down with a beauty hit, sending the puck the other way for a patented Rod & Tod 2 on 1 that saw Tricky Trelly use his whole body to get the puck in the net!! Benny Slim took matters into his own hands again, taking the puck from his own end all the way down, holding it on the 2 on 1 and ripping it low blocker to put the boys up 4!!

The third Period didn’t go as planned as Chebucto came out firing on all cylinders to keep their season alive, capitalizing on a couple chances to make the game 4-2, but with resilient play, some big blocks, a lucky post or two and some breathtaking saves from Becca, the boys in orange rallied and held off the Atlantics before their captain buried an empty better full ice to secure his hat trick and ice the game!!

Big shoutout to Chase and Colp, wearing a couple dirty hits without retaliation putting their pride aside and taking the powerplay!!

Big shoutout to Foston, who flew around the ice all night long, emptying the tank and getting to every loose puck in sight!! That’s the type of hockey that wins playoffs!!

Super proud of the boys tonight, first win since January and whynot save it for an elimination game to upset the 2 seed!! Colesy finally got rid of his fur coat, a couple more losses and it was his to keep forever!! Big game against Dartmouth Tuesday night!!

Back In The Win Column

The Boys in Orange hosted Chebucto tonight looking to get back on track after a reality check loss last week to Bedford!

Things got underway in the first with end to end action from both teams that saw Chebucto bury one to go up 1-0.

After a quick breather and some great penalty killing it was The Captain, Ben Lowther who used his speed to his advantage taking a nice pass from Keats in the middle and making no mistake in tight! The Spark Plug Foston put his head down and drove the net on a 3 on 1 and hammered home a puck in tight off a nice dish from Chucky!

The boys cooled off in the room and ate healthy snacks tonight instead of Fortune Cookies and kept their foot on the pedal when The Spark Plug "Mit" Foston buried home his second of the night from a loose puck in the slot!! (That's back to back two goal games!) After Chebucto buried one to make it 3-2, the boys didn't let momentum shift for too long as Colesy (who got his second and third assist of the year tonight) made sure the crowd didn't forget about his goal scoring abilities to go up 4-2!! The ice man Chucky Leblanc came out the next shift and buried one home upstairs where momma keeps the cookie jar to ice the game and solidify a much needed and much deserved win for the Flyers!!

Big Shoutout to the spark plug line of Harvie Cole and Foston who did all the dirty work in the offensive end that goes un noticed on the stat sheet!

Big Shoutout to G-Money-Slick for standing on his head all night despite putting his trapper in the oven for 4 hours!! Rumour has it it was hotter in his hand during the game than the whole time it spent in the oven!! Must be a goalie thing!!

Revenge game against Bedford tomorrow at 4!! #LetsGoFlyers

Shootout at The Arena!

The boys from Sackville hosted Cole Harbour tonight in a high scoring affair that was fast paced and competitive through and through!

It was Trelly who got the flyers on the board early with his signature short side high around the net! CH buried one of their own but the fishbowl friends got the scuba gear on and keatsy buried home a beauty textbook pad pass from Benito that had Coach Brownie demonstrating the open textbook to the boys on the bench to make it 2-1! Some more lacklustre play in our own end let CH tie it up at 2 as #20 buried his second of the game!

The second period was one to forget for the boys in Orange who couldn’t get anything going, they let CH make it 3-2 but when things were looking bleek it was fan favorite rookie chucky Leblanc who dished out a beauty to Gatrell for his second of the night tying the game at 3!!

The intermission snacks was exactly what the boys needed to light a fire, as they came out buzzing that led to Colp Sosa burying home a nice pass from Keatsy!! After CH tied it up again it was the Goal Scoring Machine (GSM) Mason Cole who figured it was time to remind everyone in the rink what he can do with a puck as he ripped one home post and in low glove… what a shot!! The game went back and forth with big saves on both ends but it was the Captain, Benito who took a risky shot from his own end but buried it into the open net to secure the W for the good guys!!

Big shoutout to Chase Bowden who’s stepped his game up to whole new level the past month, making the right play every time and being a true stay at home defensemen!!

Big shoutout to McCarthy and Lively for answering the call up and giving it all they had for the boys!!

Huge shoutout to the whole team, for really starting to turn things around when the season started off slow… Trusting your teammates and going to war together always pays off in the end!! 6-1-1 in their last 8 games!! Wow!!

Big game against Tasa tomorrow morning!!

The Win Train Stays On The Tracks!

The boys in Orange headed to the BMO 4 Pad yesterday and did not disappoint!!

Using their momentum from the previous game the Flyers got going early when rookie goal scoring sensation Mason Cole buried the only goal of the first!!

After some lacklustre play to start the second period Bedford tied it up at 1, but Colesy got his feet moving on the penalty kill, going coast to coast, drawing a penalty and still ripping one post and in to take the lead back!! But with time winding down in the period the blues tied it up again!

Another much needed intermission and a dressing room stocked like grandmas pantry with snacks, the Flyers came out buzzing and Colesy buried his hat trick goal off a beauty dish from Benito!! The other fishbowl friend figured it was time to get himself on the score sheet, as Keats turned on the burners to wheel past a D man to an open puck and rip one low blocker!! What a shot!! After the CodFish Kade Romaine kicked one in on Becca to keep the game close, it was none other than the man of the night, Mason Cole to bury home his 4th of the game to seal the deal for the good guys!! Not many guys can say they’ve scored 4 in a game before, and no practice / gentleman’s league don’t count!!

Big shoutout to Laba for flying around as a forward and switching back to defense when his name was called at the end of the game!

Big shoutout to Dugout Dufour for getting rid of that white cage and matching the boys with the black ones!! (Harvie you’re next!!)

Things are starting to clique in Sackville and the boys are looking to continue their streak of wins when Cole Harbour comes to the Arena Saturday night!!

Big Win For The Flyers

The boys from Sackville came out for a revenge game against Halifax, who beat them in the finals in PEI a week ago, and didn’t back down for a second!

The first period was fast paced, went back and forth, with both teams creating chances but unable to find the back of the net!

After a quick break, and a flip of the switch it was the Captain Benito, dawning his new fishing gear who walked a D man and made no mistake in close!! The Fishbowl Friends kept things going on the same shift as Benito found Keatsy out front in the slot for a rip to make it 2-0!! That’s all the boys needed to energize the bench, and Trelly made sure to bury home a rocket from the slot the next shift with a classic antlers celebration to top it off and right off the following face off, it was the goal scoring machine, Colesy who walked over the blue line and feathered one in low glove 5 seconds later!! Incredible!!

After a much needed intermission to cool the boys down, it was Benito burying home his 2 piece fish and chips off a beautiful dish from Keats on a 2 on 1 to keep the momentum flowing!! But the boys weren’t done there as Foz got in on the forecheck, caused a turnover which saw Chucky and Trell get the hot potato moving down low to go tic tac toe finished off beautifully by chucky on the wide open net!! Unreal!!

Big shoutout to Becca Vasilevski for another shutout!! (That’s 2 in the last 5 games)

Big shoutout to the Cod Fish Kade Romaine on protecting the front of the net like his life depends on it!!

What a bounce back game for the boys, big one this afternoon against Bedford to keep the momentum going!!

Big W In The Home Opener

The Flyers hosted the Halifax Hawks in The Home Barn tonight and made sure there was no way they weren’t leaving with a win!!!

The first got under way with a bang, with Keats burying one home after a grind it out shift and a nice dish from Dugout Dufour and Benito!! Rookie Charlie Chucky Leblanc made no mistake on his breakaway off a beautiful dish from Bubs that fired the crowd up!! After a slight mistake that coughed up a goal, it was  Colper, another rookie, burying home his first bantam aa goal with a snipe from the slot off a beauty dish from Benito!! What an electric first period !!

A scoreless second period that saw an incredible diving slashing trip on a breakaway from Mittens and one of the greatest shifts ever taken by Mike Richards… correction Nathan Laba!!! What a shift!! Back check breakaway… wheel the puck in… back check and take it back… take it back in again!!!! Wow!!

The third was another battle that saw a tough back and forth game that led to a power play goal for Halifax… and with the game on Rookie Brickwalk Becca made her best Odell Beckham Jr football catch to ensure the Win for the hard nosed blue collar Sackville Flyers!!

Starting to look more and more like a hockey team everyday!! Gonna be a great year!!

Jobs Not Finished!

Jobs Not Finished!

The Boys from Sackville took a stroll into the East Hants Sportsplex tonight in their first provincial qualifier game against Dartmouth and took care of business!!

El-Capitain Elsy got the boys rolling early as he took a feed from Scally and made no mistake in right to get the boys on the board 30 seconds in!! Tommer continued his dominant play and his goal streak, burying one home in the slot off a beautiful dish from the surgeon Dr. Urq!! And if you jog your memory to the last game against Dartmouth you’ll remember Franky scoring the same style of goal, absolutely ripping a shot from inside the blue line on a rush!! What a bomb!!

The first two periods were played hard and gritty, exactly how a playoff game should be, with Dartmouth capitalizing on a few mistakes in our own end that left the boys tied 3-3!

How about Playoff Peh, burying home a loose puck in front of the net on the power play after the boys couldn’t score on a few chances right before, to give his team the lead with 7 minutes left in the game!! Big time players make big time plays!!

The third period of a tied playoff hockey game, single elimination, shows you what a team is made of. Do you fold under the bright lights? Or do you step up and do everything in your power to secure a win? From blocking shots, to unselfish passes, sacrificing your body to make a play, and giving everything you have for the guy sitting next to you. That’s what it’s all about

That’s a character win, but the jobs not done yet, huge game Saturday to go to provincials.

Last Game of The Regular Season

Last Game of The Regular Season

The Boys from Sackville rolled into the Arena Sunday afternoon looking to keep their momentum flowing from a 1-0 win the night before against Dartmouth, into the last game of the season versus Bedford and they made sure to do just that!!

After Coker “slipped on a hole in the ice” in his crease, and Miro’s goal got called back, It was the Pilot, J Jets Jackman who made no mistake off a beautiful dish from Urqy who found himself on a 2 on 1 after one of his classic “how do you do” moves on a defender!!

It was Tommer who kicked off the second period, with a beautiful move on the defender before burying one home and it didn’t take long for another as the boys capitalized on another power-play when Peh buried home a loose rebound in front of the net! To cap off a dominating period, it was Big Scall who went coast to coast, dangling a D-Man, and tucking home a backhand that fired everyone in the rink up heading into the intermission!!

After a much needed cool down and a deep breath to get back to reality, it was Urqs who found himself on a breakaway from a ridiculous bounce pass from Tommer, and Urqy made sure to get the monkey off the back, burying one home up under the bar icing the game 10 seconds into the period!!! You know the French Phenom had to get his name on the scoreboard, after receiving a pass in his skates, recovering, and powering a backhander top shelf to make it 6-1 and let his tape job live to see another day… these “sty” tape jobs are horrible!!

Big Shoutout to Coker, for letting his goaltending partner have some fun today and get in the game for a shift and a shutout!

Big Shoutout to Tommer, who played his style of game all night on both ends, finishing with 3 points and getting a well deserved Orange Hat!!

Big Shoutout to the Penalty Killers who had to kill off 26 minutes tonight... insane

Big shoutout to Whitey, who’s 4 point performance wasn’t even the highlight today!!He’s the toughest kid I’ve ever met, who got smoked to the head and kept playing, and a few shifts later stood there and wore a Floyd Mayweather-esq 2 piece uppercut combo without retaliating that led to the boys getting a 4 minute power play!! Those are the plays that win Playoff games and that’s exactly what we need heading into Thursday night. Sacrificing your own feelings for the better of the team!! Love that stuff!!

What a passionate performance today, the same style of game is what it takes to go to the promise land.

Big Game Thursday against Dartmouth.

Sackville Class!

Sackville Class!

The boys took their talents and positive attitude into the Old Centennial Arena to battle the Halifax Hawks, looking to avenge their last meeting and get back on track heading into playoffs!

It was The French Phenom who got things underway, crashing the net hard and getting rewarded with a wide open net rebound to put the boys on the board! After Elsy got hooked like a fish on a breakaway with no call, he didn’t let it faze him, battling in the corner which found J Jets in the “Holy F I’m wide open” spot too to bury home a loose puck in front of the net!! Who else but the Frenchman, burying home his second of the game in front of the net to extend the lead!!

The second period got underway with a bang as Hizzy listens to the old hockey saying: “Good things happen when you put the puck on net” firing one from Center ice that found its way in the back of the net!! After an intimidating Diller forecheck that forced the opposing D-Man to turn it over, it was none other than the Big Scal to make no mistake in tight!! Peh got his name on the scoreboard once again, with a new and improved tape job, ripping one under the bar on a 2 on 1, and with seconds left on the clock, the power play got to work, and The Veteran D-Man Jack MacMillan made no mistake off a beautiful dish from jets that put the boys up 7-1!! (One rookie D-man owes Coker an apology for that shutout killer… what a bad bounce!!)

Huge shoutout tonight to the boys for realizing their teammate was on a hat trick watch, that saw Captain Will Elliott give up a breakaway and force feed a pass on a 2 on 1 to his linemate to try and get him that Hatty. Even a rookie Franky purposely took a quick 20 second shift to get his teammate back out on the ice to try and get his 3rd of the night but the post had other plans!! That’s what being a TEAM is all about, sacrificing your own success for the success of your TEAM!! It’s the difference between regular season records and champions!!! You love to see it!!

We win and lose with respect always, great classy win tonight and big game Saturday night against Cole Harbour!!

The Battle For First Place!

The Battle For First Place!

The boys from Sackville rolled into Spryfield with 1st place on their minds and they made no mistake tonight!!

Things got underway with a bang as the new Line of Destruction got to work in the offensive end that saw Scally burying one home in the slot from a sweet dish from Elliot to put the boys up 1-0! After a well deserved goal from Chebucto it was none other than the goal machine himself, Big Scally, who took the puck down the wing and scored with one of the nicest far side post and in buzzer beater shots you will ever see!! Jaw dropping stuff!!

It didn’t take long for Diller to bury one, as he was planted in the patented, "Holy F I'm Wide Open" zone burying home the puck into a wide open net!! If you looked away for a second, I feel bad for you, as The Pilot, J Jets Jackman put a defender in the blender with an in and out move straight off the TSN top 10, and ripping home a rocket to the top right to put the boys up 3!! It gives you goosebumps on the bench watching a team get that fired up off a goal… you love to see it!!!

The 3rd period got underway just as the boys left the second, that saw The French Phenom get taken down WWE style in the neutral zone with no call but while everyone looked at the ref, it was the young Frank the Tank, picking up the puck and ripping home a bullet from the slot under the goalies blocker, extending his point streak and putting the boys up big!

After a couple goals against, with momentum starting to shift, it was the new Kid Line that took their opportunity, that saw Tommer fly down the wing, dish off another beauty to Peh on the 2 on 1, and you know he’s making no mistake in tight to put the game away and secure the win, and first place for the boys!!

Huge shoutout to the Line of Destruction, Scally, Elsy, and Dolla Dill, for putting on a dominating performance that set the tone all game long for their teammates!!!

Huge shoutout to the D-Core tonight, laying the body, protecting their goalie, and playing a tough style of hockey tonight, making the right plays and trusting eachother!!

The best game we’ve played so far this year and it’s not even close, with playoffs right around the corner, this is exactly the game we needed!!

Let’s go Flyers!!

It’s Been Awhile!

It’s Been Awhile!

The boys rolled into the East Hants Sportsplex looking to crack their 3 game losing streak from Quebec and left with a win!

It was Scally who got things under way, stripping the puck on the back check, wheeling into the zone and making no mistake picking the top corner like he’s done so many times before! The Captain Will Elliott buried home a screened shot along the ice right after to put the boys up two.

After a beautiful dish from Tommer, Franky got hauled down on a breakaway and showed off his silky mitts on the penalty shot with tons of patience and a goal that looked a little too easy! After we gave one up, Diller hopped out of the box and showed why the puck doesn’t lie as he buried one home to give the boys back their 3 goal lead!

A quick break inbetween periods didn’t slow the boys down as Elsy scored one of the cleanest hand pass to yourself before burying it in close goals you’ll ever see!! Beauty!! Some lacklustre D zone play let East Hants bury another one but The Hat Trick man himself, Will Elliot finished off a dominating shift from Scally, Dill and himself by burying home a loose puck and putting the game away!! Love to see it!!

Rumour has it Mike Elliot couldn’t throw his hat far enough to reach the ice… only reason I can think of that there wasn’t a hat out there!!

Big shout out to L-Block for shutting the door all night giving east hants no way back in the game!

Big shoutout to Dill who played a complete game, kept it clean and dominated both ends out there with a well deserved Orange Hat!

Winning is so much better than losing, such a great feeling after a disappointing trip to Quebec but the boys are back to business with a chip on their shoulder and a provincial championship in mind!!

The Christmas Rust Has Fallen Off!

The Christmas Rust Has Fallen Off!

The boys rolled into the Lebrun Sunday Night for a rematch against the Bedford blues (white) and didn’t run into a scoring problem!

The Rockstar Gravy got things under way with a rip Bar-Down from the point to continue his 3 game goal streak and not too long after that Urq took a beautiful dish from Franky in the slot and buried home a patented cross bar in and out goal that was so fast the ref said no goal!! Crazy!! The birthday boy Will Elliott got himself on the board with a beauty to extend the lead and right after, capping off a beautiful breakout, Peh drove the puck in deep, back up for a point shot that ricocheted off the boards right out to Dill who made no mistake in tight!

The second period went just like the first that saw the boys play a majority of the game in the offensive end, with the birthday boy burying home another one! Peh got his name back on the scoreboard as well and the Penalty Kill was looking as sharp as ever as Scally ended his goal drought with a beauty to seal off the game!

Proud of the boys for keeping out of all the funny business and winning with class and respect while building momentum heading into their trip to Quebec!!

Big shoutout to L-Block for a dominating shutout not giving Bedford any chance to make it a game!

Big Shoutout to Hizzy for not letting anybody get in his head, taking hit after hit and just smiling at every opposing player that sent a chirp his way! Tough guys don’t have to prove their tough!!! What a weapon!!

One more practice before the boys hop on the bus and take Sackville Hockey up to Quebec!! Let’s Go Flyers!!

First Win of The New Year!

First Win of The New Year!

After a shaky start letting Bedford score on their first shot of the game, the boys kicked it into gear and dominated the game all night long!

After a questionable penalty, The work horse Dill got out of the box and made up for his 2 minutes burying home a bad angle shot and getting the game tied up! The spark the boys needed!! The “Crossbar!” Man himself made no mistake on his chance in the slot, burying home a loose puck with a backhand up under the bar at the end of the second! Good things happen when you crash the net!!

After a much needed intermission and a reminder that a hockey team is supposed to be a family and love each other, the boys came out firing in the 3rd, playing as a team and having fun out there! Nearing the end of the third, Coker made one of the most ridiculous, teleporting, glitch in the matrix saves I have ever seen! Seriously if you blinked you would’ve missed it!! Unreal!!

Back to back hard working plays, keeping their feet moving by Urqs and Miro gave the boys a 5 on 3 late in the game, and we made sure not to waste Coker’s TSN turning point save when Jets had enough of the passing around and threw a shot on net that bounced off a couple legs in front before finding the back of the net and giving the boys a cushion!

Why-not back to back goals in 2023 from the offensive machine Gravy, who played amazing from start to finish, earning himself the Fur Coat and putting the game away off a beautiful dish from Scally!!

So nice to have all the boys back together at the rink and back to playing our game! Rematch tomorrow at the Lebrun!

Let’s go Flyers!!

Starting The Weekend With A Win!!

Starting The Weekend With A Win!!

The boys strolled into the BMO four pad on a mission to avenge their only home loss of the season!!

It was scally who got the boys on the board early with one of his patented short handed beauties!! Followed up by a rip from the point from Hizzy who also buried on the penalty kill to end off the period!!

The second period started off just like the first as Scally received a beautiful dish from The French Phenom, fought off two guys and tucked home another one of his jaw dropping goals (with the backup stick too) !! Urqy figured he might as well christen the new stick (that arrived just on time today) with a classic short side up under the bar shot that gave the goalie no chance! After giving up a short handed goal, it was none other than the Frenchman, Zach Chenard, who buried home his first goal of the year with a great tip in front of the net that led to one of the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen!! Love to see it!!

After a quick break and a stern talking to from forward Coach Pross, the boys came out flat footed but quickly found their stride after Bedford buried their second of the game, when Franky played until the whistle and buried home a loose puck in front of the net. Practicing the new powerplay paid off as Urqs played his corner roll to a tee, keeping his eyes on the play and crashing the net at the right time to be Johnny on the spot burying home his second of the game on a wide open net!! Darius Peh decided it was time for him to get in on the action and he buried home a loose puck in the slot with class skating right back to the bench with no need to celebrate up that much that late in the game! Winning and Losing with Respect!! #1 teammate Jets was happy to let scally Scally go out on the ice on the last shift of the game for a chance to bury home his 3rd of the night, and why not walk the Centreman in the face off circle and rip home your hat trick goal, and then immediately come off and let jets finish out his shift!!! That’s what being a team is all about!! Love that!!

Big shoutout to rookie D man Mo finally getting his name on the scoresheet!!

That’s the first step to sweeping the weekend and finishing 2022 off on a high note!!

Looking to keep the momentum going against East Hants tomorrow night in Sackville!!

Let’s go Flyers!!

First Class Tickets on The Win Train!

First Class Tickets on The Win Train!

The boys rolled into St. Margaret’s Bay with a full tank of gas and a determination to get a win!

Things got under way where they left off last game coming out of the gate hot with effort, but 4 days off the ice had the boys playing hot potato with the puck all over the ice! Coach Pross gave the forwards a stern talking to about getting in front of the net for screens and to bury home rebounds, and who else but the Pilot, J Jets sitting in the crease to bury home a puck on the goal line to light the spark for the boys! (That’s a well deserved Orange Hard Hat!!)

Lots of chances in the second period but the boys couldn’t find the back of the net.

After a big kill to start the 3rd it was none other than the crossbar king Urqy who flew down the wing and ripped a shot bar down and out so quick that even he didn’t think it went in! Pretty sure I heard him yell "crossbar" too!! Beauty!

Big shoutout to The French Phenom getting back in his groove throwing the body all night long!

Big shoutout to The Shutout Machine Coker on another big performance saving everything that came his way!!

And a huge shoutout to the boys for setting a season low of 4 penalty minutes tonight, 14 less than their 18 penalty minutes a game average!!!

Hockey is much easier 5 on 5!!

Big game tomorrow in Sackville against Cole Harbour!!

Back In The Win Column!

Back In The Win Column!

An inspired Sackville Flyers took the ice at home tonight getting a decisive 3-1 win over the blues (blue) tonight!!

The offensive machine Scally got the boys on the board early hopping off the bench, reading the play, intercepting the puck, walking a D-man and putting his silky hands to good use burying a beauty to light the spark!! After some lacklustre play in our own end bedford buried one of their own.

The dreaded Flyers penalty kill got to work in the second period as Captain Will Elliot got the burners going and fed his liney Darius Peh a beauty for a nice goal on a 2-1!!! These penalty killers have lots of practice!!

Jumping out of the gate hot in the 3rd period, it was none other than J Jets doing a 360, finding himself in the “Holy F Im Wide Open” spot burying one home in the empty net to give the boys a cushion and setting the tone for the 3rd that the boys were determined to win this game!

Big Shoutout to Cokes for making timely saves all night long bailing his team out!!

Big Shoutout to play by play cameraman and announcer Mike Elliot for some great commentary and video for film session!!

That’s a character win to get the boys back on track!! It’s nice to see smiles on the ice and in the room!!

Big 2 hour practice tomorrow to get ready for a big game against Dartmouth Monday night! Let’s go Flyers!!

A Battle at The Arena!

A Battle at The Arena!

The Boys in Orange rolled into their home barn for the final game of their back to back to back stretch after two tough away games and walked away with another close win 2-1!

The fatigue was noticeable right off the jump as Dartmouth was all over us which led to them ripping down the wing and burying one over over the shoulder of evans for a quick goal… All we needed to give us a spark was a 6 minute penalty to get the penalty killers out there and sure enough Rookie Darius Peh made no mistake on his short handed breakaway to tie the game up with a beauty!!

The start of the second period started like every other period we play as we were short handed again but a young Frank The Tank walked in on his short handed breakaway and buried a rocket up under the bar with a celebration that belongs in the Hockey Hall of Fame!! Beauty!!

That was it for the goals in the game but it sure wasn’t the end of the penalties as the Flyers killed off 24 minutes of penalties tonight!! That’s 46 minor penalty minutes that they have had to kill in the last two games!! Insane!! On the bright side there’s no better way to practice the penalty kill than real game play!!

Big shoutout to Gravy for one of the nicest hits you’ll ever see!!

Big shoutout to Goalie Logan Evans who returned from his sickness and stood on his head for the win stopping 26/27 shots and most of them being good scoring chances!!

Big shoutout to Coach Boots who won his game of musical chairs in the dressing room firing the boys up after a big win!!

This weekend sits the boys up alone in first place with a record of 4-0! A couple practices and then the Flyers make their way up to PEI for their first tournament of the year!!

The Win Streak Continues!

The Win Streak Continues!

The boys from Sackville carried on their momentum from last game into Spryfield for a hard fought 3-2 win over the Atlantics tonight that saw the penalty total 13-1 in our favour!! Penalty Kill specialists!!

With a full head of a steam in the first period and an extra guy back on the bench, the boys came out hot dominating both ends of the ice that led to a quick goal by Dill after a nice dish from the big man Will Elliot! Fatigue set in quick as the rest of the period was noticeably worse and we just didn’t have that extra gear but Coker stopped everything they threw at him and kept the game at 1-0!

After some confusion on guys coming out of the penalty box, rookie sensation J Jets Jackman started his shift as a defenceman but heard the on the fly audible from the bench to switch back to forward and immediately stole the puck and buried a beauty into the top right to put the boys up 2-0!!! Some lacklustre play in the neutral zone let Chebucto score one of their own, but Urqs took matter into his own hands right after, wheeling from our end to the other and ripping the puck far side up under the bar with a TSN “Highlight of The Night” celebration!! Beauty!! Chebucto buried another one at the end of the period as well to make it 3-2 heading into the third.

Once the boys got to settle down during the intermission, they came out firing, but so did Chebucto! After some back and fourth play and some home ice friendly calls, Coach Bez lost his cool and got tossed from the game but the Penalty Kill experts didn’t let their coach be the reason they got scored on to tie the game up!! They grinded it out until the end and earned themselves a tough, character building third win of the season to remain undefeated!! You love to see it!!

The Boys take on Dartmouth at home Saturday night looking to stay undefeated and keep the penalty totals to below double digits!! Should be a good one!! #LetsGoFlyers

Another Win in The Books!

Another Win in The Books!

The boys rolled into the ever fan friendly East Hants Sportsplex with a short roster and an illness that they can’t shake, but it didn’t slow them down for a second!

Things got under way with a bang when Diller dished a beauty pass to Urqs who made no mistake in tight to put the boys up 1-0! After a few questionable penalties and some stellar Penalty Killing, it was Franky the multi tool who went back on D for the final PK of the period, that ripped a puck from his own end off the far boards that gave Scally a breakaway and his first goal of the year… that’s the wrong guy to give a breakaway to!!!

Carrying over the momentum from the first period the boys kept their foot on the pedal but caught up in the big hits and the penalties, and after things were getting too loud in the arena, it was the rookie Tommer who turned the jets on down the wing and buried one home to silence the crowd and put us up 3-0 going into the intermission with 2 seconds left!!

After a much needed break for the short staffed Flyers it was captain Will Elliot who walked into the slot and buried home his fourth of the year to put the game away and shut down any hope the Penguins had of coming back! After another Goal by Dill to seal the deal the boys kept out of trouble and followed the number one rule… we win and lose with respect!!

A huge shoutout to Cameron Coker for shutting the door all night long with timely saves and his first shutout of the year!

Another big shoutout to whitey, the toughest guy east of Montreal, and it’s not close!! 15 punches in 5 seconds has to be a record somewheres… fast hands!!!

Overall another solid, classy win that brings the boys to 2-0 with 17 goals for and 1 goal against… Quick turnaround to play Chebucto the following night at 4:30 for game 3!!! Let’s go flyers !!

Big Win in The Home Opener !!

2 months after the start of tryouts and 8 exhibition games later, the boys cruised to a classy 12-1 win over a short staffed Halifax Hawks team in the home opener tonight!

Led by their captain Will Elliot (Elsy) with a hat trick and veteran D-Man Jack Macmillan (Junk) with a 4 point night, the boys kept their foot on the gas pedal all night long!

Jake Amirault (Miro) and Ben Fraser (Franks) ripped home their first goals of the year with absolute bombs, and franky put the league on notice with the reverse hits all night long... he's a tank out there!!

Goaltender Logan Evans (Yosh) decided to jinx himself in the dressing room heading into the 3rd period by saying the "S" word (shutout) and then immediately got scored on in the third taking away his perfect night... the hockey gods are real!!

Overall great team win to kickstart the season!! Let's go Flyers!!
